Beginning on Friday March 14th, KCBS teams and at least 150 KCBS Judges will be arriving to set up/check in etc. The Professional team cut off is at 120 teams (teams usually average 2-3 people per team.
Local teams/organizations are allowed to enter into a People’s Choice Contest consisting of a $100 registration fee and supplied with 2 Boston Butt Roasts at the cooks meeting Friday at 6pm, to cook as they desire to serve to the public Saturday the 15th from 1pm-3pm. Local Teams are not limited to only cooking and submitting the furnished meats, they may cook additional meats or sides. These local teams can check in on Friday and cook their food onsite or even off site and bring it back Saturday for judging.
Taster Kits for the Local Teams/ People Choice competition will be sold to the public Saturday the 15th from 1pm-3pm for $10 a plate. Three voting tickets will be issued with each taster kit that will allow the Judges to vote for the Teams as having the best BBQ in the surrounding area. A Portion of each taster kit sold benefits the United Way and the Grand Lake Shrine Club. At 3pm Saturday, votes will be counted and the top 3 teams will be awarded Prize Money and Trophies at the Awards Ceremony for the Smokin At The Run Shootout between 4pm-4:30pm.
Prize money for the People’s Choice BBQ- 1st Place =$1,000, 2nd Place = $300, 3rd Place = $200.

Smokin at The Run Shootout Information-
The Shootout will consist of 2 separate KCBS Sanctioned contests (Flight A and Flight B) held simultaneously. The Purpose of this contest is two offer two separate contests of a Maximum of 60 teams and each flight will compete for its respective $10,000 purse and the “Shootout” Winners will share an additional $5,000 Shootout Prize Purse. Shoot out Awards Ceremony will be held Saturday between 4pm-4:30pm.
2nd Annual Smokin at the Run information-
Cooks meeting for this KCBS event will be held directly after the Shootout and People’s Choice ceremony on Saturday (approx. 5pm). Teams will cook overnight and Turn in their categories based on the Standard KCBS turn-in times.
