Jim Sellers’ Chamber Article 06-12-2008
Business After Hours June 17th;
Fun in the Sun Poker Run June 27-28
For those of you who missed the Marketing Seminar last week, you missed out on some great information. Wayne Blackmon took what he had started at our luncheon meeting back in April and gave those in attendance useful material with which to build a marketing model. The chamber offered this to all our members. It was paid for by the $5.00 donations collected at our luncheon meetings that give you a chance to be on Grand Lake Live with Mike and Brian.
The membership directory is at the printer and will be out soon. Thanks to those who helped fund this project by placing an ad and giving their business better exposure. We will use this directory to inform visitors of where to go for services they request. Also remember, as a chamber member to support your fellow members and use this group first.
June is a busy month with lots of planning and activities happening all around the Pond.
June 17th is our next Businesses After Hours from a great new location for all sorts of activities. Spring Valley Ranch has so much to offer groups of any kind for meetings, family gatherings and corporate events. They have lots of fun activities planned for us, so do not miss this one.
June 21st is the Colony Cove Wine Festival from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. A number of our area wineries will be sampling their latest offerings. Other fun things to do will make this a must stop.
June 21st at 10:00 a.m. will be the time a group of bikers, the self propelled kind, will stop by the Langley Medical Park on the way to their newest facility, located at the North end of Monkey Island. Stop by and see how the FIT have fun.
Our next Membership Luncheon will be at 11:30 a.m. on June 26th at Cherokee Yacht Club. Our speaker will be Lloyd Fields, the Secretary of Labor for the state of Oklahoma. We have known Lloyd for many years and now is a perfect time to get all the latest information about changes that may affect you and your employees. Make your reservations early!
June 27th & 28th is our first Poker Run of the Year. Called “Fun in the Sun Poker Run” we have 13 locations where you can pick up poker chips. Three of these locations are land based and the rest are on the water. This time you will have two days to gather all 13 and get more cards to pick your best five to play your hand. If you register early you will even save $10.00. Look for the ad in the Chronicle for details.
If you are into blogging, I now have a blog that you can talk back to us at the chamber. The address is: http://www.grandchamberexec.blogspot.com. As we learn this new way of staying in touch we will post more thoughts out there.
Thanks again to all of our investors who are supporting the work of the Chamber. Our staff is working hard to make Grand a better place to be.
HAVE A GREAT GRAND DAY!!
