ENJOY A TASTE OF GRAND AT THE NATIONAL
Hook-N-Cookoff

Family entertainment at it’s finest highlights the National Hook-N-Cookoff.  Teams of  cooks from around the country prepare Catfish, hushpuppies and Cole Slaw for judging by everyone in attendance.

The day is filled with crafts, games for the children, horseshoes and music,  along with some of the best eatin’ you will ever have.

Held in September at Pelican Landing, it truly is a day of family fun.  It isn’t unusual for families to have reunions at the Hook-N-Cookoff.  Something for everyone, PLUS no one has to cook or do the dishes.

If you have a family recipe you think might take a prize or you just want to have a day of fun, you might consider putting a team together for the cooking competition.  Everyone is welcome to participate.

Bring a lawn chair, your children, your grandchildren, your best friends and your neighbors for a great day of fun and food, Grand Lake Style.

Contact the Chamber office at 918-782-3214 or E-mail:

Pelican Landing northeast of Ketchum will be buzzing with activity on a Saturday in September with the 6th National / 14th Annual Hook-N-Cookoff. This year’s event is expected to be even bigger and better than in years past, and that’s saying a lot.

The main event is the Catfish Cooking Competition. Twenty plus teams will be on hand to try and win the National Cooking Awards. They will be in competition for the best Catfish, Hushpuppies and Coleslaw. There also are the awards for the best Presentation and the Spirit Award. However, the most coveted award is the People’s Choice Award presented for the most votes and money raised by the teams.

The real winners are those that purchase a tasting kit and get to sample food from every booth. For $6 for adults and $4 dollars for children 5 to 12, you can eat catfish, hushpuppies, coleslaw, brown beans, fried potatoes and Indian fry bread until you can’t hold anymore. Then you have the opportunity to vote for your favorite cooking team for the “People’s Choice Award.”

The craft section of the event provides a chance to buy some of those early holiday presents. Unique items are on sale for those of you that want a special gift for those special people in your lives.

All in all, it should be a fun afternoon on Grand. For more information or to enter a cooking team contact the Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce at 918 782-3214.
